Goal

The goal of Program Twelve is to introduce students to a variety of programs within the South African Church to alleviate the HIV AIDS pandemic throughout the country. Interviews with Durham's Cardinal Wilfred Napier, Johannesburg's Archbishop Buti Tlhagale, Port Elizabeth's Bishop Michael Coleman, Dundee Bishop Graham Rose and others.

2. Ask students to form small groups to describe the following:

• Describe some aspects of the HIV AIDS crises in South Africa.
• Describe the key programs being carried out by the Roman
  Catholic Church in South Africa to alleviate the HIV AIDS crisis.
• What is your favourite comment from South Africa's Church
  leaders with regard to how they are trying to help people with HIV AIDS? Explain why.
• What can the Canadian Church learn from the South African
  Church when it comes to helping people with HIV AIDS?
• Give three reasons why Canadian Catholics should support the work of the Church in South Africa.
