Goal

 

The goal of Program Three is to introduce students to the work of Sr. Aline, the provincial superior of The Salesian Missionaries of Mary Immaculate in the Archdiocese of Bangalore, India, and how her community has dedicated itself to working for the poorest of women in India. What they call the radical discipleship of Mary.

 

Steps

 

1. Show the internet TV DVD Program Three: Mary's Radical Disciple

 

2. Ask students to form small groups to describe the following:

  • Describe some aspects of Sr. Aline's personal story and
    vocation.
  • What have we learned about the Catholic Church in India
    through this program?
  • What does Sister Aline mean by being Mary's Radical Disciple? How is she Mary's Radical Disciple?
  • What does she mean when she says that helping women helps
    their children?
  • Give three reasons why Canadian Catholics should support the work of the Church in India.

 

3. Option for Take-Home Assignment

 

1. Via the Internet find more facts about:

  • The Church in India and its religious women's orders.
  • Describe the status of women there.
  • Describe how students can help Propagation of the Faith support Catholics and their work in India.
  • Locate Sr. Aline's home Archdiocese on a map of India.

 

2. In groups, make presentations to the class about any or all of the above.
