Goal
The goal of "A History to Mission" is to introduce students to the history of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and what it does today.
Steps
1. Show the internet TV DVD "A History of Mission"
2. Ask students to form small groups to describe the following impressions from the video:
- When and by whom was The Society for the Propagation of the Faith founded?
- What have we learned about the Catholic Church through understanding more about the work of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith?
- What did you know after viewing the DVD that you didn’t know before?
- Give three reasons why Canadian Catholics should support the work of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
3. Option for Take-Home Assignment
1. Via the Internet find more facts about:
- The history of the Propagation of the Faith and its current work.
- Name 10 missionary dioceses, the countries they are in, and provide 5 important facts about the social conditions for the Catholics who live there.
2. In groups, make presentations to the class about any or all of the above.
