The goal of Program One is to introduce students to the past and present day realities of Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul as a community of sisters and lay associates.

Steps

1. Show the video "Program One: We are Providence"

2. Ask students to form small groups to describe the following impressions from the video:

• Who are the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul in the video and what do we find out about them in this video?
• What is the Sister of Providence's mission statement and how do they follow it?
• What did you know after viewing the video that you didn't know before?
• Give three reasons why Canadian Catholics should support the work of Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.

3. Option for Take-Home Assignment. Using the internet, find more facts about:

• The founders of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.
• 5 ministries that the Sisters of Providence are involved
  with.
• 5 important facts about the social and /or economic
  conditions for the people in one of these ministries.
• How Canadian Catholics can support the work of Sisters of Providence.
